Professor Hirofumi Shintaku (Lab. of Nano Bioengineering) at the Institute for Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University, has received the 17th Nakatani Foundation Award.

This prestigious award recognizes researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of biomedical engineering measurement technologies.

Professor Shintaku received the award in recognition of his groundbreaking research on single-cell omics approaches, which are essential for understanding the intricacies of cellular homeostasis and dysfunction—the fundamental aspects of the smallest unit of life.

The awards ceremony was held at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, on 28th February.
