| Jul 27, 2026 【LiMe NEWS】The 20th Public Lecture Held |

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Institute for Life and Medical Sciences (LiMe) at Kyoto University held its 20th public lecture, titled “The Wonders of Life and the Science of Health.” The event welcomed a large audience from within and outside the university, providing an opportunity to share LiMe’s latest research findings.
The lecture took place at Kyoto University’s Clock Tower Centennial Hall, on the first floor, with the aim of presenting the latest research conducted at LiMe.
The event began with opening remarks from Director Keizo Tomonaga, followed by two lectures from LiMe faculty members.
Professor Eriko Kage-Nakadai delivered a lecture titled “Tips for Healthy Longevity Learned from Tiny Worms.” She discussed the history of their research and their latest findings using the model organism C. elegans (a type of nematode) to discover clues for achieving healthy longevity. This research is highly relevant in our super-aging society because it could lead to the development of anti-aging targets and methods.
Professor Taiji Adachi presented a lecture titled “Does Bone Sense Exercise? The Wonder of Bones.” He explained that bone is a living tissue that constantly remodels in response to forces applied to the body, such as walking and running. He introduced cutting-edge research on the mechanisms by which cells inside the bone sense these forces and adjust bone shape and strength. This research highlights the crucial relationship between exercise and bone health.
During the Q&A session, the audience ranging from an elementary school student to seniors asked numerous questions, sparking an engaging and lively discussion.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who attended this public lecture. LiMe will continue to share our latest research through various events and outreach activities, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
